OAS V Area Sq Thursday, 5th March 2015

The newly formed OAS team kicked off with intensity and enthusiasm and after 10 minutes had the upper hand with Cam Frazer shooting wide after some good recovery-defending from Area Sq.
Jon Rea-Palmer took a fantastic outside-the-foot shot from 20 yards out mid-way through the 1st half which took the smallest deflection to land in the top right corner. 1-0 to the OAS.
The OAS defence was solid as the half went on despite Area Sq pushing forward on a number of occasions and pumping shots at the larger than life Zoers in the sticks. The central midfield pairing of Willcock and Rea-Palmer supported the towering Abram and Furney at the back at vital moments, with Swash and Frazer offering support and ‘gas' on the flanks. Swash's final break of the first half on the right flank put the Area Sq defence in a pickle, forcing an own-goal. 2-0 to the OAS.
With the wind straight in the OAS's faces in the 2nd half, and with fitness levels waning, Area Sq's attacking prowess became obvious with several shots hitting the target or going just wide. Zoers' good hands and size did not let him down on a number of occasions but one moment in particular stood out – diving full stretch to his left to channel a well hit free kick from the goal- grass, soil and sweat going everywhere.
After a solid defensive tackle in the middle of the park by the skipper, and subsequent scuttling pass to Swash on the left flank, the front men of Swash, Kemp and Shillabeer combined a number of times to round the keeper with Shilabeer slotting the match winning goal. 3-0 to the OAS.
A good performance by the OAS against a tough and very respectable opposition which had a good mixture of youth and experience….
Any ideas on other fixtures, or if you are eager to play in the future, please contact Matt Willcock of CBRE.
